Waste Management
Proper waste management is essential for a clean, eco-friendly community. The Co-op has a recycling program, and members are expected to participate.
● Recycling:
Bins for paper, plastics, glass, and metals are provided. Please rinse items before recycling to avoid contamination.
● Composting:
Use the food waste bins for compostable items only.
● General Waste:
Dispose of non-recyclable items in the general waste bins. Minimise waste by choosing reusable products and reducing single-use plastics.
When bins are full, empty them into the designated bins near the entrance gate by House 8.
Energy Efficiency
To reduce environmental impact:
● Turn off lights and appliances when not in use.
● Use energy-efficient appliances when purchasing new items.
● Conserve water by being mindful of usage when washing dishes or showering.
Green Initiatives
The Co-op is implementing green initiatives to enhance sustainability, including recently working with the Repowering London Scheme. This not-for-profit initiative has empowered residents to shape their
low-carbon future by assessing retrofit feasibility at no cost to residents, funded by the Energy Redress scheme.
As a result, we are now upgrading buildings with energy-efficient measures—such as insulation and solar panels—to create healthier, more comfortable homes while reducing carbon emissions.
Members interested in sustainability are encouraged to join the Sustainability subcommittee or propose ideas at general meetings to further our collective efforts.
