Role of the Shared House Rep
Here is a list of the key responsibilities of a shared house rep.
• Welcome and Support New Members: Greet new housemates, explain how the house and co-op work, and answer any questions. Provide ongoing support and assistance as needed.
• Main Point of Contact: Serve as the key contact for all housemates, ensuring clear communication and addressing any concerns.
• Liaise with Housing Office: Communicate with the housing office to handle any relevant matters.
• Organise and Facilitate Meetings: Plan and run house meetings to discuss issues, make decisions, and ensure everyone has a chance to be heard.
• Resolve Conflicts: Mediate and address minor disputes between housemates fairly and amicably.
• Manage House Projects and Activities: Oversee and coordinate house improvements, renovations, and shared activities or events.
• Ensure Policy Compliance: Ensure that house operations align with co-op policies and address any deviations.
• Enhance Communication: Maintain open lines of communication to improve the living experience and keep everyone informed.
• Coordinate with Other House Reps: Work with other house representatives to address issues, share ideas, and implement improvements.
• Provide Feedback to MC or Housing Office: Relay house concerns, suggestions, and feedback to the Management Committee (MC) or housing office.
• Encourage Co-op Involvement: Promote participation in the co-op by informing housemates about joining subcommittees and engaging with the MC.
