Welcome to Deptford Housing Co-op!

We’re delighted to have you join our community. This handbook guides you on how the Co-op operates, your role as a member, and how to get involved. Living in a housing Co-op is unique. With mutual support and participation, we can create a thriving community for everyone.

What is a Housing Co-op?

A housing Co-op is where members collectively manage their housing, based on self-organisation and support. Deptford Housing Co-op is registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and operates as a social housing provider. Your £1 share gives you an equal say in managing the Co-op.

About Deptford Housing Co-op

Founded in 1977, Deptford Housing Co-op is based on the idea that residents share responsibility for managing their homes. Rochdale Way honours the Rochdale Pioneers, who founded the first modern Co-op in the 19th century.
Deptford Co-op includes eight shared houses, each with ten single-person bedrooms. Members have access to a community centre for meetings, events, and activities. Our garden offers space to relax or
garden.
